Spring brings a renewed energy to the city after the long, dark Danish winter. During this time, many locals take every opportunity to soak up the sun outside a café or in one of the city’s many beautiful public parks. Here is a list of my favorite parks and gardens for the perfect spring stroll or picnic in Copenhagen.
King’s Garden

In spring, King’s Garden wakes up after the long Danish winter. Locals bring coffee and sit on the benches in the first sunny days, and the garden is lively without feeling crowded. It’s one of my favorite spots for a spring stroll or picnic. For more see King’s Garden in my Top 10.

Tivoli Gardens
Location: Copenhagen city center
Tivoli in spring means Easter decor, blooming flowers and glowing lights after dark. See Tivoli Gardens in my Top 10 for ticket tips and more.

Cherry Blossoms at Langelinie Park
Location: Copenhagen city center

One of the best spots to see cherry blossom trees in bloom during spring is at Langelinie Park and its harbor path. To celebrate the season, the Copenhagen Sakura Festival takes place here every year, usually in April. At the festival, you’ll see many visitors dressed up in manga-inspired costumes, along with plenty of other activities like popular food trucks and craft shops.

Botanical Garden
Location: Copenhagen city center

Just steps from Nørreport Station, Copenhagen’s Botanical Garden (Botanisk Have) is a peaceful, free-to-enter oasis with over 13,000 plant species. Explore rare trees, rock gardens, and historic glasshouses—including the iconic 1874 Palm House with its towering spiral staircase and tropical climate.

The Royal Library Garden
Location: Copenhagen city center

Hidden behind the Black Diamond and close to Christiansborg Palace, is the charming Royal Library Garden (Bibliotekshaven) from the 1920s. It’s a peaceful escape in the heart of Copenhagen, with a tranquil pond and beautiful gardens.

Flower Shopping at Bering House of Flowers

Bering House of Flowers is one of the prettiest cozy stops in the city center. In spring, the shop fills with seasonal bouquets in soft pastels and bright colors, alongside cozy decor that makes a lovely gift too.
