Nørrebro was named the World’s Coolest Neighborhood by Time Out in 2021. It’s colorful, creative and a little bit gritty in the best way, with independent shops, great coffee, leafy streets and plenty of places to wander. Here are a list of my top favorite things to do in Nørrebro, in an order that works as a walking route.

1.
Shop for Vintage and Artistic Finds on Jægersborggade
Jægersborggade is the street I’d start with: a charming, pedestrianized stretch lined with independent shops and small galleries.

2.
Enjoy Delicious Danish Pastries at Meyers Bageri
Denmark is known for its high-quality pastries, and there are many great bakeries to choose from. A classic is Meyers Bageri, with a shop right on Jægersborggade in Nørrebro.

3.
Stroll Through Assistens Cemetery Park
Assistens Cemetery is a cemetery, but locals also use it as a park. On sunny days, people picnic, read and relax between the old trees and quiet paths. It’s also the resting place of Hans Christian Andersen, Søren Kierkegaard and Niels Bohr.

4.
Enjoy Delicious Pizza at Bæst
When you’re ready for lunch or dinner, Bæst is a tasty, casual stop. It’s a great way to refuel after exploring, and it fits Nørrebro’s relaxed, easygoing vibe.

5.
Explore Nørrebrogade, the Neighborhood’s Main Street
Nørrebrogade is the neighborhood’s main street and the best place to feel its everyday energy. You’ll find restaurants and shops here from many cultures, which makes Nørrebro so lively and diverse.

6.
Shop Independent Boutiques on Blågårdsgade
For more independent boutiques, head to Blågårdsgade. A popular shop here is Kræss, with its fun home accessories and artwork.
7.
Explore Colorful Buildings and Murals
Nørrebro is full of painted buildings and street art, and a walk through the side streets is one of the best free things to do here. Sankt Hans Gade and Superkilen are great colorful spots for photos.
8.
Enjoy One of the Best Matchas in Town at the Artisan Copenhagen
If you love a good matcha, this cozy spot is worth a stop. Grab a seat, slow down and enjoy a proper cup. It’s a lovely place to take a break between shops and walks.

9.
Stroll Along the Lakes Trails (Søerne)
The Lakes (Søerne) are the perfect place to slow down. Locals walk, jog and cycle here all year round, and in summer you’ll see people paddling swan boats on the water. The lakes also connect Nørrebro to the city center. See my Top 10 Things to Do in Copenhagen.

10.
Nørrebro Summer Flea Markets
For second-hand treasures, Nørrebro is one of the best neighborhoods in the city. During summer many flea markets pop up here on weekends, with vintage clothes, Danish design, old porcelain, books and small home items.
