The Little Mermaid Statue in Copenhagen

📍 See location on Google Maps

One of Copenhagen’s most iconic (and smallest!) landmarks, The Little Mermaid has been welcoming visitors at Langelinie since 1913. The bronze statue was a gift to the city from Carl Jacobsen, the founder of Carlsberg, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale and a ballet performance that deeply moved him. Sculpted by Edvard Eriksen, the statue features his wife as the model. Despite facing repeated vandalism over the years, she remains a beloved symbol of Copenhagen.
